Bill Gruber is Professor of English at Emory University. He was educated at Yale University, the University of Idaho, and Washington State University (PhD 1979). Before becoming a college professor, Dr. Gruber worked as a journalist and served in the Marine Corps. He is the author of Comic Theaters (1986; Choice Outstanding Academic Book), Missing Persons (1994); On All Sides Nowhere (2002; Bakeless Prize for Nonfiction), and Offstage Space, Narrative, and the Theatre of the Imagination (2010; Choice Recommended Academic Book, nominated for PROSE Award, nominated for American Theater in Higher Education Award). He teaches courses in drama, creative nonfiction, and baseball.
